Auction result well in line with expectations
The work #1 (Mandala), 1973 by John McCracken was sold in the Made in CaliforniaContemporary Art auction at Bonhams in Los Angeles in April 2021. The price achieved of USD 40,312.00 (€ 33,509.56) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 35,000.00 – 45,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John McCracken achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work without title in November 2015 with an auction result of USD 965,000.00 (€ 913,652.72).

Die Arbeit #1 (Mandala), 1973 von John McCracken wurde im April 2021 in der Auktion Made in CaliforniaContemporary Art bei Bonhams in Los Angeles versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 40.312,00 (€ 33.509,56) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 35.000,00 – 45.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John McCracken erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit ohne Titel im November 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 965.000,00 (€ 913.652,72).
