Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Portrait of Miss Elfrida Marjorie Eden, later Countess of Warwick (1887- 1943), as a child, full-length standing on a sofa by Frances Mabel Hollams was auctioned at Christies in London in October last year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 10,000.00 – 15,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 9,450.00 (€ 11,009.15). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Frances Mabel Hollams - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The piper, which sold at auction in June 2014 for GBP 23,750.00 (€ 29,674.49).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Portrait of Miss Elfrida Marjorie Eden, later Countess of Warwick (1887- 1943), as a child, full-length standing on a sofa von Frances Mabel Hollams im Oktober letzten Jahres bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 10.000,00 – 15.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 9.450,00 (€ 11.009,15) den Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von Frances Mabel Hollams mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The piper beobachtet, die im Juni 2014 für GBP 23.750,00 (€ 29.674,49) versteigert wurde.
