This artwork by John Lewis achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in December 2010. In the Christie's Interiors auction, the work Portrait of a young boy wearing a blue coat, standing in a landscape sold for USD 12,500.00 (€ 9,420.45) - well above the upper estimate of USD 5,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by John Lewis; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Portrait of a lady, half-length, in a yellow dress with blue bows, feigned oval sold at auction in May 2007 with the realized price of GBP 7,440.00 (€ 10,948.46).
