In January 2003 Christies in London held the auction THE COLLECTION OF MONSIEUR AND MADAME GERALD BAUER, which included the work A distant view of Edinburgh from the north-east showing the Castle, St Giles Cathedral on the Royal Mile and Salisbury Crags by John Laporte. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 3,585.00 (€ 5,490.84), 20% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by John Laporte - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Four Views Of Ireland: The Artillery Bridge, Killarney, County Kerry; Deer Grazing, Lake Killarney, County Kerry; Figures Fishing In A River Landscape And Figures With Cattle In A Wooded Landscape , which sold at auction in May 2008 for GBP 11,250.00 (€ 14,310.49).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Januar 2003 führte Christies in London die Auktion THE COLLECTION OF MONSIEUR AND MADAME GERALD BAUER durch, in der auch die Arbeit A distant view of Edinburgh from the north-east showing the Castle, St Giles Cathedral on the Royal Mile and Salisbury Crags von John Laporte zur Versteigerung kam.
