Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by John Knox could be acquired at Christies in London in March 2001 for an unexpectedly low price. In the British and Continental Watercolours and Drawings auction, the work A figure and a horse and cart before a castle; and Shipping off the coast changed hands for GBP 282.00 (€ 455.04) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 300.00 – 500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Knox achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work View of Loch Lomond, with Glen Luss, Glen Douglas and the Isle of Arran in the left distance, and Ben Lomond, Loch Goil, Ben Lui and Loch Long in the right distance in October 2008 with an auction result of GBP 97,250.00 (€ 123,958.86).
