Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Haywain by John James Chalon was sold in the The Fine Art Society: 142 Years on New Bond Street auction at Sothebys in London in February 2019. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 1,000.00 – 1,500.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 1,125.00 (€ 1,312.35) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John James Chalon achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work View Of The Market And Fontaine Des Innocents, Paris in January 2016 with an auction result of USD 52,500.00 (€ 48,467.50).
