Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A Summer evening on the Thames, below Reading; and A peaceful day on the river, near Pangbourne-on-Thames by John Horace Hooper was auctioned at Christies in London in May 2004. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 2,031.50 (€ 3,048.00) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by John Horace Hooper - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A Moment'S Contemplation, which sold at auction in November 2005 for GBP 4,200.00 (€ 6,170.33).

Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 2.000,00 – 3.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 2.031,50 (€ 3.048,00) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen.
