Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait of a girl, possibly the artist's daughter Dorothy, half-length, wearing a white dress and bonnet, and a blue sash by John Hanson Walker was sold in the Victorian Pictures auction at Christies in London in June 2003. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 5,000.00 – 8,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 5,377.50 (€ 7,727.76) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Other works by John Hanson Walker have already achieved higher auction prices, for example, in June 2001 the work Portrait Of Lewin Edward Cadogan, Seated Three-Quarter-Length, In A Sailor Suit; And Portrait Of Sophie Beatrix Mary Cadogan, Seated Three-Quarter-Length, In A Black Dress With Lace-Trimmed Apron was auctioned for GBP 5,287.50 (€ 8,783.59).
