Auction result well in line with expectations
In October 2013 Christies in London held the auction Travel, Science & Natural History, which included the work Aglaeactis Caumatonota; Cyanathus Smaragdicaudus; Ramphomicron Heteropogon; Aglaeactis Pamela; Petasophora Cyanotis; Ionolaima Schreibersi; Androdon Aequatorialis; Eucephala Smaragdocaerulea; Eriocnemis Sapphiropygia; And Eupetomena Hirundo by John Gould. The price achieved of GBP 2,375.00 (€ 2,807.23) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Gould achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Birds of Australia, [1840- 1848-1869, 8 volumes including Supplement|AID711784] in May last year with an auction result of GBP 302,400.00 (€ 355,744.81).
