In March 2003 Christies in London held the auction British, Victorian and Scottish Pictures, which included the work Coaching in wind; and Rain by John Charles Maggs. It changed hands for a price of GBP 1,880.00 (€ 2,723.41) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 1,500.00 – 2,000.00. Other works by John Charles Maggs have already achieved higher auction prices, for example, in June 2002 the work A Bristol to London mail coach with a hunt beyond was auctioned for GBP 3,290.00 (€ 5,088.88).
