In the British, Victorian and Scottish Pictures including Pictures auction, the work Night on a Galloway Moor sold for GBP 1,410.00 (€ 2,304.98) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 800.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by John Campbell Mitchell; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot The South Road, Arran sold at auction in May 2004 with the realized price of GBP 2,868.00 (€ 4,303.06).
