Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Beauty and the Beast by Byam Shaw was sold in the British and Continental Watercolours including Original auction at Christies in London in July 2004. The price achieved of GBP 358.50 (€ 541.77) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 300.00 – 500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Byam Shaw achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Queen of Hearts in December 2020 with an auction result of GBP 790,500.00 (€ 883,058.95).

Die Arbeit Beauty and the Beast von Byam Shaw wurde im Juli 2004 in der Auktion British and Continental Watercolours including Original bei Christies in London versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 358,50 (€ 541,77) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 300,00 – 500,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Byam Shaw erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Queen of Hearts im Dezember 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 790.500,00 (€ 883.058,95).
