In November 2010 a collector was able to acquire the work View of Treadwell's garden, St. Toles, Oxford (illustrated); The Thames at Hampton; View from Magdalen Bridge, Oxford; and A distant view of an unidentified church by John Baptist Malchair for GBP 937.50 (€ 1,120.31). This price was achieved in the auction The Collection of the Late John Appleby: A Channel Island Treasure House at Christies in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 1,000.00 – 1,500.00 set by the auc Other works by John Baptist Malchair have also sold for higher prices; the highest price we have seen at auction so far was achieved in November 2006 by the work Distant View of Oxford From Hinksey at GBP 1,440.00 (€ 2,138.45).
