Auction result well in line with expectations
In July 2014 Christies in New York held the auction First Open: Summer Edition, which included the work Goya Series: Of What Use by John Baldessari. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 12,000.00 – 18,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 12,500.00 (€ 9,335.32) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Baldessari achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Commissioned Painting: A Painting By Edgar Transue in May 2014 with an auction result of USD 2,517,000.00 (€ 1,845,307.92).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Juli 2014 führte Christies in New York die Auktion First Open: Summer Edition durch, in der auch die Arbeit Goya Series: Of What Use von John Baldessari zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 12.000,00 – 18.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 12.500,00 (€ 9.335,32) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John Baldessari erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Commissioned Painting: A Painting By Edgar Transue im Mai 2014 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 2.517.000,00 (€ 1.845.307,92).
