Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The brig Ceres, in three positions, off the entrance to Whitehaven by John Askew was auctioned at Christies in London in May 2005. The price achieved of GBP 2,640.00 (€ 3,897.47) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00. Other works by John Askew have already achieved higher auction prices, for example, in July 2016 the work H.M. frigate Arethusa inflicting the final blows on the French frigate Pomone, 23 April 1794, off the Channel Islands was auctioned for GBP 5,000.00 (€ 5,941.08).
