Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In May 2005 Christies in London held the auction MARITIME PICTURES, which included the work A naval brig heading into Tynemouth amidst other shipping off the entrance to the river by John Askew. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 2,500.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 2,640.00 (€ 3,897.47). Other works by John Askew have achieved even higher prices, we observed the highest auction result so far of GBP 5,000.00 (€ 5,941.08) in July 2016 for the work H.M. frigate Arethusa inflicting the final blows on the French frigate Pomone, 23 April 1794, off the Channel Islands.

Im Mai 2005 führte Christies in London die Auktion MARITIME PICTURES durch, in der auch die Arbeit A naval brig heading into Tynemouth amidst other shipping off the entrance to the river von John Askew zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von GBP 2.500,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für GBP 2.640,00 (€ 3.897,47) einen neuen Besitzer. Andere Arbeiten von John Askew haben noch höhere Preise erzielt - wir haben das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis von GBP 5.000,00 (€ 5.941,08) im Juli 2016 für die Arbeit H.M. frigate Arethusa inflicting the final blows on the French frigate Pomone, 23 April 1794, off the Channel Islands beobachtet.
