Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2007 Christies in New York held the auction Sporting And Wildlife Art Including The Collection Of Doug And Ellen Miller, which included the work Taking a Wall by John Arnold Wheeler. The price achieved of USD 5,000.00 (€ 3,404.14) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Arnold Wheeler achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A Mahogany Painted Canvas Four-Panel Screen in June 2001 with an auction result of USD 42,300.00 (€ 49,917.39).
