The price achieved of GBP 12,500.00 (€ 14,941.82) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 10,000.00 – 15,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, Portrait of Andrew Bridges Murray (1813-1880), the artist's brother-in-law, seated small half length -- a vignette is the most expensive artwork by John Alexander Gilfillan that we have observed at auctions so far.
