In September 2009 Christies in Amsterdam held the auction Nineteen to Now, art from the 19th, 20th & 21st centuries, including Topographical Observations, African and Indonesian Pictures, which included the work On the beach by sunset by Johannes Joseph Destrée. The »bidding war« ended at EUR 1,875.00 17% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Johannes Joseph Destrée have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work On the beach at sunset in October 2006 with an auction result of EUR 10,800.00.
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im September 2009 führte Christies in Amsterdam die Auktion Nineteen to Now, art from the 19th, 20th & 21st centuries, including Topographical Observations, African and Indonesian Pictures durch, in der auch die Arbeit On the beach by sunset von Johannes Joseph Destrée zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von EUR 1.875,00 und damit 17% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Johannes Joseph Destrée auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit On the beach at sunset im Oktober 2006 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 10.800,00.
