Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Johannes Borman could be acquired at Christies in London in July 2005 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Important Old Master Pictures auction, the work A roemer with walnuts and almonds in a niche surrounded by a garland of lemons, peaches, apricots, oranges, cherries and grapes with a Red Admiral, wasps and ladybirds, a canopy above changed hands for GBP 12,000.00 (€ 17,405.89) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 15,000.00 – 20,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Johannes Borman - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Früchtestilleben mit Austern und Silberplatte. Um 1655., which sold at auction in September 2010 for CHF 78,000.00 (€ 58,467.02).
