It achieved a price of USD 100,000.00 (€ 79,808.46), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 67%. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Johann Wilhelm Preyer; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Stillleben mit Weinglas und Früchten sold at auction in October 2003 with the realized price of EUR 97,750.00.

Die Arbeit Still Life of Fruit, Walnuts and a Champagne Flute on a Marble Ledge von Johann Wilhelm Preyer wurde im Oktober 2014 in der Auktion 19th Century European Art bei Christies in New York versteigert. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von USD 100.000,00 (€ 79.808,46) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 67%. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Johann Wilhelm Preyer; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Stillleben mit Weinglas und Früchten im Oktober 2003 mit dem Hammerpreis von EUR 97.750,00.
