The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 6,000.00 – 8,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 6,048.00 (€ 5,235.46) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Johann Mathias Ranftl - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Die begehrte, fremde Hundedame auf der Durchreise, which sold at auction in November 2020 for EUR 16,250.00.
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Der Grossvater (The Grandfather) von Johann Mathias Ranftl kam im Oktober 2021 bei Sothebys in New York zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 6.000,00 – 8.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 6.048,00 (€ 5.235,46) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen.
