Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portraits of Angélique Adélaide Désirée Péan de Saint-Gilles (1796 - 1848) and a young boy of the Péan de Saint-Gilles family by Johann Julius Heinsius was sold in the Master Paintings Part II auction at Sothebys in New York in January last year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 12,000.00 – 18,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 12,600.00 (€ 11,237.96) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Other works by Johann Julius Heinsius have already achieved higher auction prices, for example, in November 2006 the work A Girl, In A White Dress Holding A Pug Dog, With A Landscape Background was auctioned for GBP 11,400.00 (€ 16,929.36).
