Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Peasants And Their Animals Resting Among Classical Ruins by Johann Heinrich Roos was auctioned at Sothebys in London in July 2011, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 3,000.00 – 4,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 1,500.00 (€ 1,721.47). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Johann Heinrich Roos achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A Huntsman Firing A Pistol In A Rocky Landscape in January 2007 with an auction result of USD 42,000.00 (€ 32,312.66).
