Auction result misses estimated price range
In February 2018 a collector was able to acquire the work German the Suitor by Johann Hamza for USD 7,500.00 (€ 6,142.00). This price was achieved in the auction Fine Old Master & 19th Century European Art at Sothebys in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 8,000.00 – 12,000.00 set by the auction house. Admittedly, works by Johann Hamza have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A difficult recital in March 2001 with an auction result of GBP 28,200.00 (€ 45,503.53).
