In January 2009 Sothebys in New York held the auction Old Master Drawings, which included the work An Episode From Virgil'S Aeneid: The Harpies Attacking The Fleet Of Aeneas On The Strophades  by Johann Carl Loth. The result of USD 5,000.00 (€ 3,905.03) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of USD 5,000.00 – 7,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Johann Carl Loth achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Susanna and the Elders in July 2007 with an auction result of GBP 72,000.00 (€ 106,936.62).
