Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Forest Landscape with Herdsmen, Sheep and Cattle by Johann Bernhard Klombeck was sold in the 19th Century European Art auction at Christies in New York in October 2017. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 30,000.00 – 50,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 32,500.00 (€ 27,901.79) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Johann Bernhard Klombeck have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A wooded winter landscape with travellers on a snow covered path and skaters on the ice in November 2011 with an auction result of EUR 133,000.00.
