The work Hikers before a waterfall by Johan Fredrik Eckersberg was sold in the Nineteenth Century European Art auction at Christies in London in July 2008. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 3,000.00 (€ 3,811.53), 50% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Johan Fredrik Eckersberg have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Madeira in April 2000 with an auction result of GBP 18,212.50 (€ 31,179.06).

Die Arbeit Hikers before a waterfall von Johan Fredrik Eckersberg wurde im Juli 2008 in der Auktion Nineteenth Century European Art bei Christies in London versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 3.000,00 (€ 3.811,53) und damit 50% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Johan Fredrik Eckersberg auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Madeira im April 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 18.212,50 (€ 31.179,06).
