This artwork by Jogen Chowdhury achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in March last year. In the South Asian Modern + Contemporary Art Including Works from the Collection of Mahinder and Sharad Tak auction, the work Two Women and the Swan sold for USD 201,600.00 (€ 181,736.23) - well above the upper estimate of USD 70,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Jogen Chowdhury - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work "Day Dreaming", which sold at auction in June 2009 for GBP 373,250.00 (€ 437,996.36).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Jogen Chowdhury erzielte im März letzten Jahres bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion South Asian Modern + Contemporary Art Including Works from the Collection of Mahinder and Sharad Tak wurde die Arbeit Two Women and the Swan für USD 201.600,00 (€ 181.736,23) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 70.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Jogen Chowdhury mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit "Day Dreaming" beobachtet, die im Juni 2009 für GBP 373.250,00 (€ 437.996,36) versteigert wurde.
