Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Jogen Chowdhury could be acquired at Christies in New York in September last year for an unexpectedly low price. In the Centering the Figure: South Asian Modern + Contemporary Art from the Collection of Romi Lamba auction, the work Man in Kurta Pyjama changed hands for USD 42,000.00 (€ 42,931.62) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 50,000.00 – 70,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jogen Chowdhury achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work "Day Dreaming" in June 2009 with an auction result of GBP 373,250.00 (€ 437,996.36).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Dieses Kunstwerk von Jogen Chowdhury konnte im September letzten Jahres bei Christies in New York für einen unerwartet niedrigen Preis ersteigert werden. In der Auktion Centering the Figure: South Asian Modern + Contemporary Art from the Collection of Romi Lamba wechselte die Arbeit Man in Kurta Pyjama für USD 42.000,00 (€ 42.931,62) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 50.000,00 – 70.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Jogen Chowdhury erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit "Day Dreaming" im Juni 2009 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 373.250,00 (€ 437.996,36).
