Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Model in the Artist's Studio by Jogen Chowdhury was auctioned at Christies in New York in September last year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 15,000.00 – 20,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 11,000.00 (€ 11,243.99). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jogen Chowdhury achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work "Day Dreaming" in June 2009 with an auction result of GBP 373,250.00 (€ 437,996.36).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Model in the Artist's Studio von Jogen Chowdhury im September letzten Jahres bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 15.000,00 – 20.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 11.000,00 (€ 11.243,99) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Jogen Chowdhury erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit "Day Dreaming" im Juni 2009 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 373.250,00 (€ 437.996,36).
