The work Le Porte-Étendard by Ernest Meissonier was sold in the 19th Century European Art auction at Sothebys in New York in May last year. The »bidding war« ended at USD 27,720.00 (€ 25,831.70), 54% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Ernest Meissonier achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work French les Deux Amis in November 2015 with an auction result of USD 442,000.00 (€ 418,481.35).

Die Arbeit Le Porte-Étendard von Ernest Meissonier wurde im Mai letzten Jahres in der Auktion 19th Century European Art bei Sothebys in New York versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 27.720,00 (€ 25.831,70) und damit 54% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Ernest Meissonier erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit French les Deux Amis im November 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 442.000,00 (€ 418.481,35).
