In November 2017 Sothebys in New York held the auction Art Treasures of America: The John F. Eulich Collection, which included the work French général Duroc At The Battle Of Castiglione by Ernest Meissonier. The result of USD 20,000.00 (€ 16,809.55) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of USD 20,000.00 – 30,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Ernest Meissonier achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work French les Deux Amis in November 2015 with an auction result of USD 442,000.00 (€ 418,481.35).

Im November 2017 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Art Treasures of America: The John F. Eulich Collection durch, in der auch die Arbeit French général Duroc At The Battle Of Castiglione von Ernest Meissonier zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von USD 20.000,00 (€ 16.809,55) entsprach exakt dem unteren Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 20.000,00 – 30.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Ernest Meissonier erzielen.
