Upper estimate price exceeded by 92 %.
This artwork by Théodore Géricault achieved an unexpectedly high price at Bonhams in London in July this year. In the Old Master Paintings auction, the work Study for the race of the Barberi horses sold for GBP 15,360.00 (€ 17,920.46) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 8,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Théodore Géricault achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait d'Alfred et Elisabeth Dedreux in February 2009 with an auction result of EUR 9,025,000.00.
