In January this year Christies in New York held the auction Old Master & British Drawings, which included the work Studies of soldiers on horseback (recto); Studies of a head, a leg, and the feet of a standing warrior holding a shield (verso) by Théodore Géricault. The »bidding war« ended at USD 13,860.00 (€ 12,764.78), 39% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Théodore Géricault achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait d'Alfred et Elisabeth Dedreux in February 2009 with an auction result of EUR 9,025,000.00.
Oberer Schätzpreis um 39 % übertroffen
Im Januar diesen Jahres führte Christies in New York die Auktion Old Master & British Drawings durch, in der auch die Arbeit Studies of soldiers on horseback (recto); Studies of a head, a leg, and the feet of a standing warrior holding a shield (verso) von Théodore Géricault zur Versteigerung kam.
