Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work French Saint John Chrysostom Exiled By The Empress Eudoxia by Jean-Joseph Benjamin-Constant was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in May 2018, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 30,000.00 – 40,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 25,000.00 (€ 21,422.45). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jean-Joseph Benjamin-Constant achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The King Of Morocco Leaving To Receive A European Ambassador in October 2019 with an auction result of GBP 375,000.00 (€ 434,973.11).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit French Saint John Chrysostom Exiled By The Empress Eudoxia von Jean-Joseph Benjamin-Constant im Mai 2018 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 30.000,00 – 40.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 25.000,00 (€ 21.422,45) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Jean-Joseph Benjamin-Constant erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The King Of Morocco Leaving To Receive A European Ambassador im Oktober 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 375.000,00 (€ 434.973,11).
