Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Playwright Collin D'Harleville (1755-1806), Holding A Quill And Writing 'Scene V' Seated At A Table With An Inkwell, Quill-Sharpenener, Two Books, One Titled 'Cice Ro'; In An Interior With Curtain, Tassel And Window Showing A Rocky Landscape Wit by Jean-Jacques Karpff was sold in the IMPORTANT PORTRAIT MINIATURES AND OBJECTS OF VERTU auction at Christies in London in July 2005. The price achieved of GBP 3,600.00 (€ 5,221.77) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jean-Jacques Karpff achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A Group Portrait Of The Countess Of Montmarie, With Her Mother And Daughter, Circa 1805 in July 2020 with an auction result of GBP 47,500.00 (€ 52,982.63).
