In May 2008 Christies in London held the auction West ~ East - The Niall Hobhouse Collection, which included the work Design for an elaborate candelabrum with a classical figure holding two cornucopia supporting an urn and five lights by Jean-Guillaume Moitte. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 6,875.00 (€ 8,745.30), 38% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Jean-Guillaume Moitte have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Cornelie, Mere Des Gracques in April 2008 with an auction result of EUR 37,176.00.

Im Mai 2008 führte Christies in London die Auktion West ~ East - The Niall Hobhouse Collection durch, in der auch die Arbeit Design for an elaborate candelabrum with a classical figure holding two cornucopia supporting an urn and five lights von Jean-Guillaume Moitte zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 6.875,00 (€ 8.745,30) und damit 38% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Jean-Guillaume Moitte auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Cornelie, Mere Des Gracques im April 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 37.176,00.
