Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A young boy, in open white shirt with frilled collar, fair hair; sky and cloud background by Jean-François-Gérard Fontallard was sold in the Important Portrait Miniatures and Gold Boxes auction at Christies in London in November 2007. The price achieved of GBP 1,000.00 (€ 1,400.26) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 800.00 – 1,200.00. Admittedly, works by Jean-François-Gérard Fontallard have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portrait Of Juliette Récamier (1777-1849), Circa 1805 in July 2019 with an auction result of GBP 11,875.00 (€ 13,037.96).
