Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
The work Hermès (Mercure) by Jean Cocteau was worth GBP 9,450.00 (€ 10,886.04) to a buyer in December this year. This price was achieved in the auction Ancient to Modern Art from the Mougins Museum of Classical Art, Part I at Christies in London and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of GBP 3,000.00 many times over. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jean Cocteau achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Mediterranee - 1952 in December 2014 with an auction result of EUR 132,000.00.
