Auction result misses estimated price range
In February 2018 a collector was able to acquire the work Belgian the Chess Players by Jean Carolus for USD 11,875.00 (€ 9,724.84). This price was achieved in the auction Fine Old Master & 19th Century European Art at Sothebys in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 12,000.00 – 18,000.00 set by the auction house. Admittedly, works by Jean Carolus have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Negotiations in May 2000 with an auction result of USD 56,400.00 (€ 60,463.12).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Im Februar 2018 konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit Belgian the Chess Players von Jean Carolus für USD 11.875,00 (€ 9.724,84) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion Fine Old Master & 19th Century European Art bei Sothebys in New York erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von USD 12.000,00 – 18.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Jean Carolus auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Negotiations im Mai 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 56.400,00 (€ 60.463,12).
