Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Belgian the Punta Della Dogana And Grand Canal, Venice by Jean-Baptiste van Moer was auctioned at Sothebys in London in December 2015, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 30,000.00 – 40,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 27,500.00 (€ 37,343.68). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Jean-Baptiste van Moer - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Doge'S Palace And The Piazza San Marco, Venice, which sold at auction in June 2017 for EUR 106,250.00.
