Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Embarkation For Cythera by Jean-Baptiste Le Prince was sold in the Old Masters Part I auction at Christies in New York in April 2018. The price achieved of USD 300,000.00 (€ 248,467.78) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 250,000.00 – 350,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Jean-Baptiste Le Prince - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Portrait Of A Woman On A Divan, which sold at auction in November 2020 for USD 625,000.00 (€ 523,100.10).
