Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Embarkation For Cythera by Jean-Baptiste Le Prince was sold in the Old Masters Part I auction at Christies in New York in April 2018. The price achieved of USD 300,000.00 (€ 248,467.78) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 250,000.00 – 350,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Jean-Baptiste Le Prince - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Portrait Of A Woman On A Divan, which sold at auction in November 2020 for USD 625,000.00 (€ 523,100.10).

Die Arbeit The Embarkation For Cythera von Jean-Baptiste Le Prince wurde im April 2018 in der Auktion Old Masters Part I bei Christies in New York versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 300.000,00 (€ 248.467,78) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 250.000,00 – 350.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von Jean-Baptiste Le Prince mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Portrait Of A Woman On A Divan beobachtet, die im November 2020 für USD 625.000,00 (€ 523.100,10) versteigert wurde.
