This artwork by Jean-Baptiste Jacques Augustin achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in December 2018. In the Part I auction, the work Portrait Of Marie-Thérèse Charlotte, Duchesse D'Angoulême (1778-1850) sold for GBP 56,250.00 (€ 62,667.49) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 30,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Jean-Baptiste Jacques Augustin; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot A magnificent miniature of a young lady holding a quill in her right hand and balancing her artist's portfolio on her lap with her left hand, facing right in white muslin dress, large gem-set gold belt, powdered curling hair dressed 'à la conseilleu sold at auction in May 2000 with the realized price of GBP 58,750.00 (€
