Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A wooded landscape with a blasted tree by a rock by Jean-Baptiste-Adolphe Gibert was sold in the Old Master and 19th Century Drawings including Property from auction at Christies in New York in January 2002. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 6,000.00 – 8,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 6,462.50 (€ 7,519.78) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Jean-Baptiste-Adolphe Gibert - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Salt Marshes, Ostia, which sold at auction in April 2005 for USD 24,000.00 (€ 18,577.29).
