A top price for Jean-Achille Benouville - as previously expected
In January 2021 Sothebys in New York held the auction Master Paintings Part II, which included the work Rome, a view of Saint Peter's and the Castel Sant'Angelo by Jean-Achille Benouville. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 80,000.00 – 120,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 88,200.00 (€ 72,682.32) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Even if this result could not surprise positively, Rome, a view of Saint Peter's and the Castel Sant'Angelo is the most expensive artwork by Jean-Achille Benouville that we have observed at auctions so far.
