Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Two Bust Length Studies Depicting: A) Christ B) The Virgin by Jan Wierix was sold in the Old Master & British Drawings auction at Sothebys in London in July 2015. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 12,000.00 – 18,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 12,500.00 (€ 17,720.80) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jan Wierix achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Creation and Early History of Man in twenty scenes in January this year with an auction result of USD 403,200.00 (€ 371,339.10).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Two Bust Length Studies Depicting: A) Christ B) The Virgin von Jan Wierix wurde im Juli 2015 in der Auktion Old Master & British Drawings bei Sothebys in London versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 12.000,00 – 18.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 12.500,00 (€ 17.720,80) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Jan Wierix erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Creation and Early History of Man in twenty scenes im Januar diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 403.200,00 (€ 371.339,10).
