Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A Hunting Still Life With An Eagle And A Woodpecker Together With Hunting Paraphernalia And A Red Parrot, In A Landscape by Jan Weenix was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in June 2012. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 30,000.00 – 50,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 31,250.00 (€ 24,668.46) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Jan Weenix have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A sunflower, roses, parrot tulips, a carnation and other flowers in a glass vase on a partly draped marble table in July 2000 with an auction result of GBP 135,750.00 (€ 219,505.96).
