In June 2002 a collector was able to acquire the work Composition d'une voiture en bleu by Jan Stekelenburg for EUR 454.10. This price was achieved in the auction PICTURES, WATERCOLOURS & DRAWINGS INCLUDING FLOWER PICTURES at Christies in Amsterdam and was even below the estimate range of EUR 700.00 – 900.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jan Stekelenburg achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Stilleven - Still life in June 2002 with an auction result of EUR 5,377.50.
