The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 40,000.00 – 60,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 43,750.00 (€ 38,751.11) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Other works by Jan Peeters have already achieved higher auction prices, for example, in December 2008 the work Ottoman forces attacking an islet fortress, possibly Grambusa, during the Siege of Candia was auctioned for GBP 63,650.00 (€ 66,851.02).
